Ann Curry
Ann Curry has worked as a journalist for more than 45 years. Her focus is on natural disasters as well as war zones. Curry has reported on wars around the globe, and has reported on conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry was an American journalist, TV news reporter and host best known as a correspondent for the Today program a morning broadcast news show that aired on NBC. Curry was known for her work on reporting humanitarian crises in war-torn countries as well as on natural catastrophes. Curry's father was a naval officer within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Curry's parents bonded in Japan which is where her father had been stationed since World War II. Because of her father's military service the family has moved around quite a bit. Curry was able to complete her high school studies at Ashland Oregon. In the end, University of Oregon awarded her a bachelor of arts in journalism. The diversity of her experiences as well as her experiences throughout her childhood may have influenced her empathy method of communication regarding global issues. Curry was often on the move together with her husband but she did not attend a school for longer than two or three years. Her school was located in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Her final graduation was from Ashland the high school. Her broadcasting career began as an internship at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. When she was 22 she became the first journalist female for the station. Later, she moved into the role of anchor as well as reporter at KGW an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. After four years of service, she was appointed a reporter by KCBS TV which is located in Los Angeles. It was during her association with this channel for 6 years that she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
